What has all of this got to do with paying tribute to Sir Terry Wogan?
You guys are seriously off-track and disrespectful. This is tabloid stuff, not worthy of supposedly educated people. |

State Retirement Pension is a National insurance Benefit which is paid to those who have contributed ERNICS. I did for years and paid my share of taxes. sadly this is not the case for many of the Sheikh's Loyalist Tory Pals. Have a look at the track record of the owner of "The Daily Mail" and at all those real parasites in the House of Lords. |
Vacate your council house so that a person in need (or couple) can occupy it. 20 years on a tax-free salary in KSA should mean that you can buy your own place. BTW I don´t read the DM but have friends who are tories. I consider myself a realistic socialist. |

Thus leaving him homeless. A very socialist attitude.

It should, yes. Unless of course his ex-wife relieved him of his nest egg. Such things happen; I speak from experience. |

And how's everyone's Chinese New Year going? I thought as this thread's now an A to Z of random thoughts, what better place to ask? |

Homeless? He could move in with Julian Assange. Company for Julian. A razor sharp intellect with which to discuss the flaws of the horrible UK. |

Apologies for helping to derail your thread. I liked Terry very much on the radio but not so much on the telly. His radio programme gave pleasure to millions, including me. He was a nice, successful guy who, as has been said, didn´t take himself seriously. About golf, however, he wasn´t a good player. Never got down to single-figures, did he? |

Dear Hod,
Seeing as it's the year of the monkey, we seem to be off to a good start.

I can't find details of his golf handicap, but he played a lot of pro-celebrity games and held his own. I would say he was definitely single figures at one point.
So despite being a humble self-deprecating sort who did a ton of stuff for charity, he gets a rough ride on this forum. I really doubt any other websites have gone down this route. |

And yet the OP (I think you know him, Hod) claimed not to know what he was famous for.

Dear Hod,
Never heard of the chap before you posted. But it doesn't take a long acquaintance to be struck by his inaction, his ignoring of the widespread rumors to the point of continuing to work with Savile on "Children in Need" and his defense of Stuart Hall.
All of which makes it hard to see how "paying tribute" would be on the table, but everyone gets to pick the heroes they want, I suppose.
Regards,
John |

I have. He received a fee from the BBC for hosting its Children In Need Appeal:
Quote: |
Sir Terry has been paid for his efforts since the appeal - described by the BBC as the most important event on its calendar - began in 1980. |
