I did run into a problem with a job in the Czech Republic recently, due to changing "rules" and whatnot.
I'm not there however, which might be the problem.
But the employer told me that the work visa must now be applied for from outside of the EU, from the embassy in the US.
They changed at the last minute, after originally having planned to have me go to Prague and apply for the work permit, which they said was no longer possible. I don't know if that's true or not, but that's what they told me and what the embassy told me.
But it's interesting to hear comments on this thread, as I ran into a last minute problem with a job in Poland as well. I'm applying from abroad, so that might be the issue, but I'm hesitant to go to eastern europe if there are some broad sweeping rule changes. |

I can assure you that they probably just found a candidate locally. No employer is going to risk someone from the US sight-unseen if they've got a perfectly good candidate on their doorstep. |
