Hello
It has been awhile since my last post. I am currently in the last few months of my tour of duty in China. I am in Wuhu,Anhui. Are there any friendly foreigners here? I am an American black woman teaching English in Wuhu for a Chinese language school. I have met many unfriendly foreigners. I have one friend here, but she is leaving very soon. I thought I put out a post to see what happens.

I will be leaving in July.

Thanks

I know the feeling.

A couple of things that I've done to help stop myself going crazy:

There's a few touristy places around 3-4 hours away from me, and I just go for a weekend sometimes, stay in a hostel and usually find some normal people to chat to.

Also I've had a few couchsurfers stay with me.

MOD EDIT

What's up? I'm also in Wuhu, teaching at Anhui Normal University.

I agree, a lot of foreigners are extremely unfriendly here. Even trying to give a general acknowledgement or greeting I find they always look away immediately "pretending" to not notice another foreigner walking straight towards them.

I live at AHNU old campus which is right next to bu xing jie or the main city center. If you're anywhere near that we can meet up sometime.

Also in my teaching complex is a nice French guy and an American couple that just had a baby. They're all very friendly as well, so if you ever see a white couple with a baby, they will be happy to chat Wink

Shoot me a PM if you're bored

What is the obsession with the need that every foreigner must know one another? Just ridiculous.

This forum is busy enough without cluttering it with non job-related posts.
Take this stuff over to the 'Off Topic' side.

Ah yes. The dreaded Cliff of Hyperbole. Overlooking the far-flung Isles of Langerhans.

Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes I'm guessing you haven't been in China for very long. One of those "i'm so kewl i dn't need foriengeirs 2 b popular lulz" You don't have to KNOW every foreigner, but at least some acknowledgement or general friendliness is appropriate I think.

When you've been here for a long time it's nice to be able to sit down and have a talk with someone that speaks real English.

But I guess if you've never left the comforts of Beijing and Shanghai you wouldn't understand that.......
