Albeit in the most clunky and obtuse way possible in their "continental" English. It's amazing how, despite being introduced to it early on in their language learning, the Saxon Genitive still escapes most.

... same could be said, in any case, about native speakers themselves in relation to the grocer's apostrophe. Or is that grocers' apostrophe? Maybe grocer's' is best? All my language-learning life I've been exposed to this, yet can't seem to get it right. Especially when posting on forum's...

Hmmm. I've been on the continent for over a decade now and I don't think this is a widespread problem by any means....as Sasha says, not pertaining to the Europe I know....
