I am a 21 year old third year undergraduate student majoring in international relations and minoring in economics. Post-graduation I intend to enroll in teachers college here in Ontario, Canada.

My question to many of you experienced international teachers is what I should do to make my resume much more appealing to international schools abroad, particularly in Kuwait.

P.S. I was born in Kuwait (not a citizen) and I speak the Arabic language. Does this make me a more appealing candidate?

Kudos to you for ensuring you get the proper academic credentials/training for teaching. Your education should serve you well.

By international schools, I assume you're interested in teaching children. I've never taught in Kuwait nor do have teaching experience at the international level; however, I can offer some basic info. For the Gulf, you should have a teaching license from your home country (Canada, in your case) and a couple of years of teaching experience. For more specific info on international schools in the region, check out teachaway.com to see what quals are required and use that as a general guide.

Good luck with your studies.

Your best bet is to get some classroom experience. Even if it's volunteer work. Having said that, if you have your teaching credentials, but no experience, that doesn't necessarily exclude you. I worked with a young Canadian man a few years ago who was in the same boat you're in. Born in Kuwait (Bedoon) Canadian citizen. Teaching certificate, but no experience. The school took a chance on him and he's still there today.
