I'm Canadian with an interest in completing a BEd and becoming certified in a province to teach in public school. Actually, I did my original BA and MA in Toronto but the job market is too competitive for me there. I have my eyes on Alberta b/c that appears to be a healthy economy but the BEd programs, consequently, are more competitive to enter. So, I'm thinking of doing a BEd in a less competitive province and getting certifying in Alberta.
How'z that for a plan?

It seems like a good plan. Just make sure that you don't end up with problems from not having actually gone through the education system that you will be teaching in, and / or that you have no problems getting into a B.Ed program in a province other than your own (if you end up trying to do it from a province other than Ontario. They normally suggest going to the States- those schools in Buffalo. I know someone who did that- or the UK or Australia or New Zealand to do the one-year B.Ed and then get it approved rather than going to another province, but maybe that's just the companies that show up to recruit). |
