Is anyone familiar with or has worked for this University in Quito, Ecuador?

I've never worked for them, and I don't know anyone who has, but it's one of the the oldest Unis in Ecuador and it has a good reputation there for engineering and sciences. It has a reasonably sized post-grad offering as well.

With any job in Ecuador your first question to them needs to be what visa they are offering.

They are offering me a 12-VIII cultural exchange visa. I will not be a paid employee, but will be a volunteer and they will be providing me with a stipend.

12 VIII is fine. It should come with health insurance as well.

Yes, it does: it covers up to $2,400 in expenses. They also indicate that there is nearby furnished housing which, including utilities, ranges in price from $150 to $300. Does this seem accurate, in your experience?

That sounds about right. $150-$200 will get you a decent sized room in a nice shared apartment. $300+ would get you a private apartment. There is cheaper stuff available too, but I wouldn't want to live in it. YMMV of course.

You are welcome to PM me if you want to chat about it.

Edit: ps $2,400 will go a long way on health care in Ecuador.
