Dear Master Shake
I respect your efforts to focus on teaching. The 'ecocks waffle on safety' is getting a bit ridiculous.
I think that I am a good example of someone who has gone above and beyond the call of duty. Precisely, I have done a lot for students in terms of lesson planning, providing them with USEFUL learning materials, helping them out with vocab learning strategies, composing and recording my own pronunciation/connected speech units and never failing to send a lesson review after each lesson. Motivating and encouraging students also helps. You have to do this because qualifications mean zilch - do companies/students really care if I have an MA, dip TESOL, or whatever? Not in my book. Got to sell those ideas and methods...
Rewards - I think they will come in the long run... Word-of-mouth has helped me in some respects and it is reflected in the prices I charge for private lessons/in-company stints.
I am now business-minded but I agree with Master Shake about opening a school. No way. Must keep soldiering on and something will come up...
Regards
John |
