Hello everyone!
In January I am headed off to Tours, France for six(ish) months under the Working-Holiday visa (bless the Canada-France relationship for that...). I would ideally like to be teaching ESL and I'm wondering...
1-does anyone know anywhere apart from the Wall Street Institute that is a reputable place to apply?
2-how easy (or not) it is to find work from this side of the pond.
3-is there any agency I could go through?
Thanks in advance
(note: I have my CELTA)
Cheers! |

I can't answer your question but I would love to know how it goes! I am hoping to do the same thing this winter. |

WSI pays 11 an hour.
And they want you to register as an Auto Entrepreneur so you are not actually employed by them. |

Not! It is VERY difficult to find work from afar--plenty of qualified applicants already there.
About WSI: Does the working holiday agreement with Canada allow for independent work? I would think not, but that's just my guess.
(Edited for clarity.)

French employers tend to recruit locally.
There are lots of Irish and UK citizens available who don't have any work visa problems.
There are half a million Brits living in France - many of whom are desperate to make a living and are convinced that they can teach English because of their nationality. |

11 an hour...in France! That is bad...or is that the going rate for this kind of institute?
Why are you so determined to work in France?
What happens when the 6 months run out? Is an employer really going to give you work knowing after 6 months you will be ineligible for work? (Just trying to be realistic!)
When are you going?
Why Tours?
How is your French? |
