Hey everybody,

I'm an American with TEFL certification, a Master's degree in Geography, 1 year TEFL experience in Indonesia (high school), and 4 years college teaching experience in the US (Geography), plus 1.5 years coordinating after-school programs at US high schools.

I'm researching TEFL jobs in Taipei for a potential Fall 2013 start. I'm new to searching for work in Taipei so I'm gathering info on what the job market is like both for work with children and at the university level.

1. I've heard that people now must work at several schools to make ends meet in Taipei. Is this true? How possible is finding a good job (one that covers a single person's expenses) at just one school these days? I'm budget-conscious but need to be able to eat healthy meals, buy basic necessities, and pay rent on a small but functional apartment on my salary.

2. I enjoy working with children/youth and know there's lots of work with kids in Taiwan. What are the best websites for jobs teaching young people in Taipei? Are there recruiters that anybody would recommend?

3. Would universities be interested in my experience/quals and if so, what is the pay range at that level?

Thank you for taking the time, I appreciate your insights and help. I hope you're enjoying your life abroad, wherever you may be in the world! Smile

Without a Master's in TESOL or linguistics you are not eligible for a work permit to work in a university in Taiwan.
