Hi,
If you study a part time masters at a UK uni, how normal is it to teach in the esl department of the same uni? Does anyone know if this is normal or not?
How about once the masters has finished, is it common for masters graduates to find work in the esl department of the same uni?
Interested to find out how usual or not this is.
Thanks |

I know a few teachers who have done this, but they are the exception in my experience. It basically depends on whether the university actually needs teachers - they're unlikely to hire their students just for the heck of it. Also depends if you are a GOOD student and considered likely to be a star teacher. |

I suppose you could say I'm doing that. I study as well as teach (albeit a minimum schedule - 5 hours/week). There are a few who teach at the university / attached schools. I think there are 6 natives on my MA course, 4 teach at the uni / attached schools. 2 study full time (myself and another teacher) while the other 2 are part-time. |
