You're flip-flopping around here, hod. You've been quite vocal about low pay in Germany.

What's your take on this now? That some amorphous "we" don't want the competition? Oh, puh-leeze!

Oh, by all means, come one and all but be sure you buy a round trip ticket because you won't make enough money to go home and you don't qualify to go on the German Socialamt if you're not German.

I for one am NOT in Germany. I visit at least once a year but earn my money elsewhere.

My feelings are that frequent injections of REALITY are needed for all these fora so that people will keep their feet on the ground.

Too many people give the impression that the world of EFL is like The Big Rockcandy Mountain.

My first stint in EFL more than 30 years ago ws in Berlin. I wish I could go back to Germany and work but I can't - not if I am to clothe, house, feed and educate my kids.

Scot,

I think Hod's having a grand time winding us up. Actually, there is a Hod character who posts on ajarn.com (a Thailand 'discussion' board) quite a lot.

They're probably one and the same as his bio says he's in Asia. Perhaps he's just making the rounds to stir a few pots?

What is a "Hod" anyway? A 'hod carrier' would be a 'brick carrier' so is hod a brick? Probably thick as...anyway.

Now I'm really blushing. As if complements on Dave's weren't reward enough, it turns out people read my posts on ajarn.com!

Me thick? At least I know what a Hod is. Sad

but then you knew that already, din't ya?

Thank you from the very bottom of my uneducated heart for correcting my reference to 'hod'.

I thought the writing style of the two 'hods' was the same. Wink

EFL teaching is a small world and I suspect we're all checking around so it wouldn't be unusual for me to have seen your posts on ajarn.
