As no one has written a review for New York Studio of Languages recently, I thought I'd share my experience with the company. I have been working for New York Studio for the past year. My experience with the company has been great. I haven’t had any problems, all in all the company has always pulled through for me. To start with, I have always been paid in full. The salary has been delayed by a few days a few times but the company informed the teachers of the delay prior to it happening. I have always been given work. When I wanted to work more hours they were more than happy to oblige. When I needed time off, they accommodated my requests. I have been living in the housing provided by the company. It is comfortable and whenever repairs need to be made, the company takes care of everything. They arrange all the visas and insurance for the teachers. The office staff is great and helpful and I’ve made some great friends here. I have seen teachers come and go and the ones that left weren’t truly interested in staying to begin with. This company does everything to make the teachers’ lives in Istanbul comfortable and safe. If you compare this company to other language schools in Istanbul then New York Studio of Languages is definitely a better place to work. The wages are competitive, housing is free, students are great and the people who work here are supportive and friendly.

This seems entirely too positive. I worked at English Time, which gets a lot of hate on this board, and didn't despise my time there, but I sure as hell recognized that there were plenty of problems. An experience is certainly what you make of it, but this is taking it a bit far.

Certainly every company has problems. But the problems didn't interfere with me doing my job, nor did the problems want to make me quit. Everyone has a different experience within the same company. I am merely sharing mine.

This company is definitely not a good company to work for.
Generally treat their staff badly, the foreign teachers are treated
as easily replaced cogs in the machine. The locations are quite far,
pay is generally late, primarily because of staff. If you are payed late,
we are informed that it is our fault. The housing itself is quite crowded
and dilapidated, the owner doesn't work well with others.
Now of course, anyone that disagrees with this company is welcome
to do so, but a 500 dollar fee for training, the training being nothing
more than a joke. The teaching method that they teach you, being
outmoded and generally inefficient. Oddly different working hours,
causing quite a loss for your social life.
Heck, we can even discuss the only day off being on a Friday, which
unfortunately is far too common in Turkey, or the negative attitude of the
staff towards the foreign teachers?
Shall we continue? I won't call the poster a shill, but I would say that
he or she was asked to post something here.

Heck, let's even link you to the old Berlitz School. Closed down due to corruption and not paying for the books or the franchise fee. But, that wouldn't make much of a difference, now would it?

Having to pay anything for training for your job is very bizarre.

Hitherto unknown poster appears and makes very positive comments about a school. Let me consult my friend in Baker Street.

I know, there's been whitewashing on the interwebs as of late, this might be a part of that.

Might have had to attend an in-house training session. Those Berlitz instructional videos have quite a running time...

Just another general warning on these guys, they're recruiting again.
Not saying anything bad about them, but I wouldn't work there myself,
nor would I recommend anyone work there.
