I've been applying for jobs online for schools outside of Barcelona. I want to know if applying for jobs on foot (physically dropping off my CV/cover letter at schools) would be worth the trip to the city I want to work at. Should I drop off my information even if a school has yet to advertise a vacancy? Should I ask for the manager when applying or leave it with the receptionist? |

Just email them your CV, if they haven't an email listed call them up and ask them for their email to send them your CV.
I was where you are now, and I assure you this is the best way. If you know Spanish, search for the different areas you want to try in Paginasamarillas.es and find schools and call em up. Register as a job seeker in Katalunya. e.t.c |

I always thought sending CVs via e-mail would be considered lazy. My dress shoes are not designed for traveling long distances. My feet hurt like hell.
Thanks for the advice PC. I started applying exclusively to jobs in Valencia and have moved here at least temporarily if a face-to-face interview is needed. Here's hoping I lock up a job before the end of the month. |

You should get something in Valencia, the only thing is, don't be surprised if you don't get replies until the 20th or after. A lot of schools don't even reopen till then. |

Really? That long? I was wondering why things were moving so slow. Guess I can commit to Valencia and start apartment hunting then though I don't know enough Spanish to negotiate a contract. |

I mass mailed CVs to pretty much every place I could find. The replies started coming between 15th and 25th. Planning to take it easy, I initially agreed 14 hours, then two other places in late October got back to me and gave me 11 hours more. I was still getting replies in November and one place even contacted me in early March (!) to ask if I was still looking for work. So hold on, if you have sufficient quals and experience, the work will come. |
