TO: A593186

If you read the OP you will answer your own question friend. The CFTU does not sell a thing, not even memberships. We sell no books, language courses, CDs, Visa or travel service, no insurance, and certainly not religion or politics. We don't peddle or promote any company or service and we are not in the job placement game. We are all volunteers and we help our teaching colleagues avoid and solve problems (like collecting your last paycheck or getting your release letter with no strings attached). And we don't solicit, request, nor harvest emails to be sold to spammers. So no, nothing is being advertised. Visit our website sometime and maybe you might agree that there is some information there that teachers may find useful. (www.ChinaForeignTeachersUnion.com) Maybe not. Its all free so what's the big deal A593186?

Since you took offense with our post, I am curious as to why you would be upset that we offer free advice, tools, and contact information for teachers to know if they are dealing with an honest or dishonest agent? Are you an agent or recruiter yourself A593186?

Getting back to the OP, it speaks for itself and we just want teachers to have a problem-free fun experience while they are in China. Problems are alway easier to prevent yes? That form letter has already exposed 57 scam agents, of which 6 were arrested and the others are identified on our website. Would you rather find out the hard way?

CFTU-Beijing:

Your message here isn't (and won't be) received well because we just suffered through your predecessor/ alterego's exact same diatribe.

Okay. Got it. You just annoy people.

Can you publish a few names and contact numbers so that we can verify your identities? You publish URLs galore, but no direct contact information. In my eyes, this puts you in the category of a secret organization akin to the Gongers, What are you going to do when the Powers that Be steal you away in the night?

Your continual bombardment of this forum with your propaganda (that's what it is) does little to serve your cause. Why not report back in a year and fill us in on the headway you've made in getting everyone a 20,000rmb per month job?

Until then, adios.

As you can see friends the original OP was deleted without explanation. The CFTU received an email today from the party who claimed to have posted the information and they claim they posted the below form letter which was later deleted. They further said that when they tried to repost it they were banned without explanation. Below is that form letter so that those of you reading this thread might be able to make sense of it all.

Basically, if you are going to use an agent you have a 5%-10% chance of getting an honest and ethical one who won't take more than 10% of your pay. To sort the legitimate recruiters and agents (that are licensed and registered to do business in China) from the greedy fee variety and identity thieves, send them the above form letter BEFORE you agree to anything, BEFORE you sign any contracts, and BEFORE you send them copies of you passport and visas.

If they complete and return the form letter to you with all the blanks filled in they are probably honest and ethical. If they refuse to fill in all the blanks or fail to return the letter, move on and avoid all further contact with them as they are probably scammers. The letter is self-explanatory.

For thise who do return the letter, be sure you verify the information online, especially the registration, which you can do at the below links or by asking a CFTU volunteer to run a check (just send an email)
