No, but I'm dying to find out. Do tell us. Where are you working now?

Anyways, for all the newcomers my original intention remains the same.

Don't work for Ron Nathan or Executive Language Center!

Checked your previous PM. No idea where you are working now.

But since you put it out as so desirable, I'd love to know where it is. (wherever it is, this is where I need to go)

Calm down dear. Sashadroogie knows his/her stuff well and deserves some respect for earned wisdom and experience. When peppered with my stupid questions, Sashadroogie treated me with great consideration and thoughtfulness.

We need no flame wars here. Everybody is just trying to make a living in the best way they can.

Pickles and vodka all around. I'm buying.

Jazziz, your tone in your posts here leaves very much to be desired. There are forum rules about that too.

In answer to some of your questions, I do know quite a bit about working as an EFL teacher here. I am happy to share what insights I have. But no, the vodka has not clouded my brain, and yes, I too have some other options, as well as a degree etc. I also have a family, which ties me here, though, so not all of those options are easily realised. By the way, did you manage to get your basic TEFL qualifications yet? Because according to some, teaching here with none is tantamount to fraud.

Best of luck to you if you ever do manage to get over here. You'll need it as there are so many worse characters around than what you've meet so far...

Shame Sasha, and I thought you had been in Russia long enough for a good vodka soaked view of the world.

I am so disappointed in you--try harder! Davai!

(sasha, I just ran davai through google translate and turned up nothing. I tried English to Russian 'let's go' and 'movie it' and several other variations. Is davai a Russian colloquialism or have I failed to google translate in some way?)

But I am the innocent party. I thanked you for your warning about the school, but also suggested the tone was detrimental to the message. For that I have been subjected to more of the same, but shriller. So, perhaps it is best to leave it to the Mods to decide what constitutes a breach of terms.

By the way, do you think there's a Russian embassy in Russia, and that it deports people? How well-travelled does one have to be?

Dear Expatellagirl

As far as I know it comes from the verb 'to give', but means roughly 'come on! Let's do it!' You are right in that it is one of those awkward to translate words. Parasite word, I call it : )

Could you post 'davai' in Cyrillic for me? I would be so grateful as I have failed to turn it up any other way.

I did learn and comprehend spoken Russian, but that is a vast difference from written Russian.
