3 Was it helpful for uni teaching?

4 How?

ONLINE BA ETC DIPLOMAS for getting a uni job in China.

2 Did China accept it OK for teaching at a university?

If you never taught English before, a TEFL comes in handy. It is a class that teaches you how to teach English. Just because you speak English doesn't make you a teacher. However it is NOT a mandatory requirement to teach in China although some recruiters will tell you otherwise, because it either provides them a sales/referral commission, or gets them a bigger fee. There is 1 exception however. If you want to work for the EF school chain (English First), their HR people require a TEFL or TESOL certificate.

However, there are a lot of garbage companies that peddle worthless TEFL programs whose "certifications" are non-existent, and most of the on-line courses fall into this category. I suggest you visit and read this entire thread, especially post no. 3 to avoid the fake TEFL people:

http://scam.com/showthread.php?t=616386

Also be aware of the "New Requirements" hoax that some recruiters use to trick you into buying a TEFL course. See these links about this clever ruse:

http://open.salon.com/blog/china_business_central/2014/09/07/new_china_foreign_employee_teacher_requirements_now_strict

TEFL training is great plus, but not a legal requirement in China.

About your online degree... There is an "Online Verification Link" at this website where you type in the name of your online uni and it will tell you in about 10 seconds if it is recognized in China. http://www.chinaforeignteachersunion.com/2014/09/warning-safea-psb-and-ministry-of.html There are 379 listed there in alphabetical order that are not recognized. Good luck.

TB,

Cubism is compiling data for a book. It's a survey.

Why do you feel the need to turn everything into CFTU propaganda.

Wait. I don't want to know.

Go to your corner with your bowl of Cheerios and get your jollies that way? ESL104 will even help you.

I just checked the CFTU list of unaccredited universities. I can't tell if it's a joke or not. Are people seriously buying fake degrees from the University of Antarctica? More importantly, do we really need the CFTU to tell us that such a university is bogus? I think anyone could have figured that out.

http://antarcticaedu.com/cheerleading.htm makes me envious too. Wonder if they need ft's?

HK Open University was OK...

The surveys show me that my uni work was after all very narrow; , but too that many other ft's have the same opinions.

One hates to pontificate. Fiction (for me) softens my opinions & other people do the talking. /but this is pretty straight forward n f stuff. Thanks again!
