Interviews are beginning again. If you have an interview, questions you might like to ask.
Do current teachers think students can meet expectations? How many students pass system wide tests (English, Maths, Science)? How many weekends will I be expected to work (remedials)? What percentage of students attend remedials? Do teachers think that the reliance on i-pads is working? Does the on line testing system work? Who is to blame if students fail? What happens to teachers whose students fail?
They will show you impressive resources and are pressing ahead with learning systems that are not working for the students. Students are good, but English levels are too poor to meet expectations. There are lots of very frustrated and worried teachers.

So it has always been... various approaches have been tried over the years to miraculously teach English in a year... none of them work... and of course, it is the teachers that are to blame.

Nothing will change in the Gulf until we see how the latest group of students at K-12 fare with the new ADEC approach to starting a more bi-lingual education from kindergarten.

Always good to know before you go how your prospective employer will handle this reality.

And since, given the mountains of nonsense, the 'approach' of ADEC teachers is generally to run to the hills ...

More important than the response of some teachers is whether the students are learning more language from a very young age. That is what we won't see the results of for some years yet...
