Does anyone know how official the negative test result needs to be? My hospital sent me a simple print-out that says NEGATIVE but doesn't have a doctor's signature or even the name of the hospital on it. Will that pass muster?

I've tried calling the consulate to ask but end up on infinite hold each time.

I think it depends on who's processing your application.
That really doesn't sound as though it will be accepted. I had a colleague who had similar issue. She actually went back and explained that it was needed for a visa and they made it look more official.

Basic rule of thumb for doing any business on the European continent: the more fancy stamps you can charm any official into cramming onto any document, the better. True from sea to shining sea, and on any kind of official document, from dog passport to teacher cert to visa applications to (obviously) medical records.

As far as I know, this really depends on whichever Russian consulate you are applying to. If they are familiar with hospital print-outs, then they might just accept it. However, they might be all officious and demand an official medical certificate.

I'd ask your hospital/clinic to send you a proper cert, just to be on the safe side. The consular boys might reject your application, and still charge you for that privilege, only to charge you again for your second application.

Yes, go back to your clinic. The person who produced the clinic may have presumed (if they cared) that this was just for your own piece of mind for somewhere where the burden of proof is less exacting. I do not see why it should be difficult to get a signature and/or a stamp attached to the document.

Always important to tell the clinic that a cert is needed for visa purposes. Not the first time somebody would have requested that, I'm sure.
