Hi friends - I'm gonna hang out in Manila, Boracay, And Puerto Galera for 2 weeks and I want some info on sim cards.

I don't plan on making calls but like the convenience of internet on my phone.

Can you recommend a phone company for my 2 week stay? And give me an idea of prices.

I'll be at the Mall of Asia and-or Aylya mall in Makati for the fist few days.

Thanks

I know my reply is a little late but for the others who might be asking the same question, let me give it a shot. The 2 largest network provider in the Philippines is Globe Telecom and Smart Communications. You can have a toss between the two. Although other networks (SUN, RED and ABS-CBN) might work well just the same.

I had SIM cards for Globe, Smart and Sun to use with my USB modem and not one of them worked in Puerto Galera. Couldn't get a connection at all. Additionally, it was extremely difficult to find a decent wifi connection anywhere in the White Beach area of PG, including the hotels. Sabang was a little better. Even in Manila, Smart and Sun were almost unusable, with only Globe providing a very spotty and intermittent service.

Your best bet would be to try to stay in hotels with dependable wifi or use the big chain coffee shops or expat owned bars.

As much as I liked Puerto Galera the wifi was terrible. In my hotel and in most restaurants it didn't work.
