It is amazing but I guess the lower end jobs target new comers and ones without some sort of cert. Sucks because if I get desperate enough I might actually consider it. I am almost done with my masters in TESOL but the last 3 classes I have to take require me to be teaching. If I can get work soon then I'll be done with it by summer.
You've almost got an MA in TESOL and you're considering working for 18zl/hr?!

C'mon, BocaNY, that's $2 under minimum wage in NY for teaching - a professional service. Times can't be that desperate; you'd be better off working in a Mc D's in the States...

There ARE better paying jobs out there, even in the middle of the semester. Come to Warsaw.

Work in places like Warsaw is never a problem. I know that it sounds crazy to just come here and hit the streets with your CV, but that's what most of us had done and it's worked. Prior to coming here I had an interview lined up and some savings [read - emergency exit cash]. There are over 400 language schools in Warsaw, yes, most of them are just small indy operations not worth mentioning, but there are plenty large ones. Plus there are always privates Wink

I wouldn't touch Berlitz with a barge pole.

I recently enquired with them, just out of curiosity and they offered 25 zloty per hour, before tax. It would take 14 months before you got up to the maximum of 37 an hour, and that was in Warsaw!

Plenty of desperate gimps in the zoo here. Someone will do it.
