Hi everyone,
I'm curious to hear people's opinions on where ESL is starting to become very popular. I've heard that the Middle East is booming and that places like South Korea have really been dying out.
Thoughts anyone? |

Saudi Arabia will always have teaching jobs because of the high-turnover rate (mostly due to sketchy contracting companies rather than direct hire). Oman seems to consistently have openings as well. However, the foundation year programs in the UAE are set to be phased out by 2018; opportunities in the Emirates have already shown a noticeable decline.

I've been thinking Africa might be the next up and coming thing.
As more money comes from oil extraction and Chinese investment they will become more developed. As countries become more developed, their people need English more. (see: Korea, China, VN)
However a lot of them speak English already...I guess. And the might as well learn Chinese as English probably. So....just a thought. |

| What's so great about China? I thought South Korea paid the most? What is it about China that makes it a top choice? |

| The job market in SK is pretty much established now and it is starting to mature, i.e. wages and conditions are settling down. In China it is still massively expanding, it is still volatile so there are bigger risks but also bigger benefits, if you can find the right position. |

| Oh ok. What about the pollution in China though? I'm assuming most jobs would be in the cities, all of which are heavily polluted. I'm not really too keen on eating polluting food, breathing polluted air, or drinking polluted water lol |

Might not as well not go to any Asian country if this is a serious issue for you. |

Nah, there are quite a few where that isn't an issue. Asia's a big place, Thailand, Philippines, even some parts of China have clean air. Just Google 'Asia aqi map' and see. |
