|
|
I was interviewed by a top-tier university in Beijing, and I have a few questions about what they are offering. They said they pay between 80,000 to 100,000 rmb per annum. This seems a little low to me considering that it is a top-tier uni. I make 6,500 rmb per month in a third-tier city now, so I was expecting a little more from them. (They do provide free housing in Beijing, btw.) Would the amount they are quoting me be sufficient enough to live on? How about savings? If I don't splurge to much, could I save a significant amount of it? Another concern of mine would be the work load as I would be teaching content classes and not just the typical Oral English that many are teaching in China. As such, lesson prep would take up a significant portion of my day and I would want to be compensated amply for my time.
Thank you for your help everyone... |

they say salaries at the top unis are low....your real compensation is
putting their name on your resume.
80-100K.........10 months or 12 months?
regardless. you can live on that. no problem.
you need more'n a grand a month for food? |

That's what I thought, too. It's a privilege to work for them (or so they think). The contract is for 10 months, and saving a thousand usd a month (6000 rmb) is something I always try to do. |

If that is their attitude, then Potsie and I both say that they can sit on it.

Without knowing more details, I'd say that 10,000 a month for teaching a subject at a university level is a joke.
BUT...if it's low hours and you want to get out of the alphabet dance, might be worth it. |
