Hi,

I have a MA in TESOL and (at the end of my next academic year) I will have taught university English Composition I and II to Chinese students for four years.

Quite simply, what jobs are out there for someone with my experience and background? I prefer university, but it seems like (as least according to these forums) that university jobs aren't the best to have in Thailand.

Thanks!

Check out universities that offer an international program. Two of my friends here have uni jobs and they make very good money. There's a website www.studyinthailand.org that lists the majority of unis with international programs.

Hello there,

Checkout the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce in Din Daeng....They are always looking for professional teachers with graduate TEFL qualifications. Pay is good and so are benefits. Good luck!

Hello there,

Regarding salary most private universities will pay you well here (for Thai standards) with an M.A. degree in TEFL or TESOL...just stay clear of government or public funded universities as the pay is very low and savings is next to impossible. Good luck!

Hi EFL Educator, could you give an indication of what that might be? I've read that the state unis pay about the same as state high school jobs but how many baht might a masters holder with, say, more than a decade worth of teaching experience and four years of uni EFL teaching experience (conversation and writing) earn at a private uni?

Like Old Surrender, I think I have one year left in me here in Japan!

A job at a second tier international school or a school that calls itself an international school. You can shoot for 40,000 Baht, because of your master's, although you will be contending with people that are llicensed. Lots of luck.

Right off the plane and you are looking at 25k thb/month.
By itself the MATESOL won't go far.
Make some connections and it is a different story. 100k+ can be on the table.

It is more about what you can actually do (rather than what you know), who you know, and most importantly who knows you.
