Hello there.
I am currently looking for work in Central Europe for September.
Also, I am working as an EFL teacher in a kid's camp. Come September, I will have 6 months worth of experience.
I have noticed that adverts either don't mind if you have experience or ask for a year. No middle.
Some adverts put "some experience".
How important is it that you actually have a full year? I now have experience working with YL (like the job I am interested in asks for) but would they not look at my application because it's not long enough? |

Assuming that you have a passport from an EU member country and a CELTA or equivalent, the experience factor shouldn't be important. Just put what you've got.
Also note that the vast majority of entry-level positions in this region don't hire from abroad (you need to be here to interview in person, like most other candidates - schools don't generally have to take a chance on someone sight-unseen here as there are lots of teachers around).
YL positions tend to be a bit different and may hire from abroad a bit more often, but in case you don't find something, keep in mind that the surest route to a job is to be here in early September to interview in person. |

Thanks for the tips!
Sorry I wasn't very clear in my last post. I'm not so concerned with getting a job at all. I'd just like to know whether having experience, even though it's less than a year, would help.
I've just applied for a job on tefl.com and it asks for "some experience".
Basically, I noticed that a lot of the adverts ask for a year's experience or more or no experience whatsoever. I was wondering whether some of the positions asking for a year would still consider me. |

If you have a passport from an EU country and CELTA and/or equivalent, yes, they will probably consider you. |
