Hi all,

As the title suggests, I'm wondering if someone (either on the ground in Krasnoyarsk, or familiar with the job market there) can advise if there is much in the way of opportunities for Aussies without degrees (I'm in the 2nd year out of 3 of my undergrad, and am looking to defer for a year to replenish my bank account a bit).

I do have 2 years experience in China, and a TESOL certificate, so I do have some aspects that may work in my favour (or may not, as the case may be).

Thanks in advance

The best thing you can do is simply contact some employers.
Some schools are so desperate for teachers that they actually hire hamsters and dress them up as humans in order to pass them off as teachers. Perhaps one of those schools will offer you work.

Thanks for the advice Teacher X! Do you happen to know which schools in Krasnoyarsk are recommended? I've read that Language Link is one to purportedly avoid at all costs in Krasnoyarsk, but was uncertain if there were any that the collective Russian EFL teaching community might know of.

I have seen similar to the point you made, about establishments passing anyone and anything off as being a native English teacher - in particular, the last country I taught in for 2 years.

Hey Tarrasque, I'm here in Kras, and have been for 7 years. If you're a qualified, experienced teacher, then yes, avoid Language link.
I think you'll find it impossible to legally work in Russia without a Uni degree.
New laws are constantly being introduced, and schools with foreigners are being scrutinized more frequently as the west vs russia rhetoric amps up.
