Be grateful it isn't an English pope sitting in the Vatican. Or he'd happily issue a bull permitting invasion and annexation of Scotland by the English throne...

Pope Adrian IV was English. In 1155 he published a bull urging Henry II to invade Ireland. Perhaps that's why there have been no English Popes since! Wink
