Just wondering what an expat should expect as a decent salary
as a certified elementary teacher with 10 years of experience ?

What kind of position are you looking for? Classroom teacher? A specialized subject? I assume you're looking to work at an international school, correct (whether for host nationals or foreign nationals)? International Schools Reviews has reviews posted for schools in Egypt and members have listed rough salary ranges (it costs 29 USD to become a member, but it's worth it for international teachers in elementary or secondary education). TeachAway has listed a range of $2300 - $2650 per month, which is lower than many ME countries, though the higher end is on par with Oman's international schools from what I've seen.

Each individual schools has different pay scales, so it's hard to give an exact figure. If you check out schools you're interested in on International Schools Review (or maybe even Bayt), you may be able to find more information. Search Associates, ISS (International School Services), and TIE (The International Educator), also list salary information, but of these SA and ISS are not exactly cheap.
