A mate of mine just forwarded this to me and I thought some of you might like it (apologizes if it has been posted before):

Pretty accurate - for most of the Gulf actually. Laughing

If you click on his name, you will find a number of articles on Oman that he has done.

Great link, OP. Thanks so much for sharing.

I came to Oman 2 years ago with the intention of working only one 3-year contract. I love the country and the culture, despite all of these things. Initially I thought that 3 years would not be enough, but now as I sit home in my own country on leave, feeling significantly more appreciative than I ever thought I could for the 'western bubble' I was raised in, I realize that 3 years is in fact exactly enough.

This time next summer, I will not be able to say that I stayed in the Gulf too long. The novelty of Oman still has not worn off for me. I think the trick is to get in and get out before it does. Thanks again for the link!
