My husband is very interested in living in Guadalajara... The main thing we are wondering is about the rent. Can anyone living there give me an idea what is runs in what areas. We are looking for decent non fancy living conditions close to shopping and public transportation. |

My parents live in Zapopan, and I am usually in Guadalajara once or twice a year, and based on my experience I would say it is a little more expensive than Mexico City. Public transport is not quite as good as it is in Mexico City either, taxis are a LOT more expensive, food is more expensive, both restaurants and markets. Most chain stores are about the same and Mexico City. |

Interesting... Thats what my husband feared. I was hoping it would be less than Mexico City. |

I just got back from GDL...Zapopan specifically.
Pretty much ditto what BBB says. You really need a car to get around the sprawl of the city as public transport is not very good (unless you limit yourself to the centro). Taxis are scandalously expensive.
Rents are cheaper in GDL than Mexico City, but that's about it. |
