Working for anything under 15k is a joke? Since when Exclamation

I mean really, if it is...I need to get out of my 8,800.00 a month situation. I'm qualified and experienced too.

Honestly I hadn't even heard of adjunct teaching before.

it was already popular when I was in college 13 years ago....had one professor who commuted to three schools to teach his classes, all about 1.5-2 hours apart. You can make OK money maybe, but not like a tenured professor. They want to do away with tenure completely now. I didn't even think they were hiring new tenure-track professors..maybe at some really high-end universities.

You can make pretty good money teaching at community colleges though from what I saw. Not exactly sure how to land one of those jobs but they pay decently and the hours aren't too bad.

The whole job situation for those under 35 or so is going to absolute shit in America.

I did the calculations and my university gig is pretty similar as far as disposable income goes is pretty similar to making $35k/year in seattle (the only US city I'm pretty familiar with). And a lot of people there make less than that.

In the west an adjunct professor is just a part-time teacher. Usually, and adjunct teaches one class and (usually) is not under contract beyond a semester, though they can sign two-semester contracts.

Technically, a teacher who has been farmed out by another school is not an adjunct teacher. He is bound by the contract of his home school, not the school to which he has been farmed out to.

The OP just read an article in Huffington Post and is trying to sound knowledgeable.

Only problem here is this has nothing to do with teaching in China. I am sure there are places to vent about adjunct teaching in the US. Why here?

I did report this to the mods.

Stay on topic. Trolling is a very dangerous business on this board and 99.999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999% of the time such behavior will result in permanent ejection along with your ISPs.
