Maybe it is time to leave. Shame. I remember just a few years back listening to all those words about how the end of the "Evil Empire" meant we would live in perpetual peace. Liberal Democracy had triumphed. "The End of History".

Now ? Looks like we have the war of each against all.

Was there a mass exodous out of America when they were lynching black people? ask some African americans what life was like for them during the Civil Rights era (heck we won't even ask about during slavery!). Yes not too long ago your liberal minded, free the wolrd Americans targeted people merely for the color of their skin. Go to Los Angeles or Chicago or any other urban aresa and I'm sure they will say that not too much has changed. So now the 'good ole boys' are being targeted (and its a shame) but how soon we forget...

moonpie,

For starters, try getting your subject/verb agreement right. Then what I also have to say is that you really are a world-class jerk. Look up the definition of schadenfreude; heck don't bother, I'll tell you what it means:
taking joy in other's suffering. Do all of us a favor and crawl back under your rock.

Dear Hector_Lector,

Thanks for the assessment. However, that's not exactly a "Stop the Presses" news flash for most of us who frequent this forum.
Regards,
John

If insanity were enough to bar us from posting here then there would be very few posters left !

Dear scot47,
True enough - but then, there's serious insanity and frivolous insanity.

John

Slatterly, You accuse me of stupidity with the sub/verb agreement and You state that I am insane. How about answering my question instead of throwing rocks?

Dear Moonpie,
when sane people want an answer to their question, they ask it first.

At least he uses expressions such asnaysayers and sniveling whiners (should that not be a double l, or is it another quaint colloquialism?).

No, lets encourage Moonpie to write more. Its interesting to observe the mind of someone so deranged.

And the question was where are those naysayers and sniveling (sic) whiners.

Competition - where are they?

(Anyone who suggest that they are looking after Weapons of Mass Destruction will be immediately disqualified.)

And do you slow down when passing particularly gruesome traffic accidents, too? Visiting Bedlam, I've read, used to be an entertainment for some of the English upper classes. But it's not my cup of tea, so to speak.

Since I strongly suspect I'm one of those so described above, well, I'm in Santa Fe, NM. Everybody's got to be somewhere.
Next question?

Regards,
John

Traffic accidents I try to avoid.

But psychiatric situations - super.

One of the charming things I remember of my years in various Arabic countries was encountering the assorted lunatics who wandered freely, as insanity was and is seen as having been touched by the hand of God. Even more splendid, especially in Sudan, was the fact that so many spoke marvellous English.

But could they belly dance? Not blooming likely!

Dear Hector_Lector,
Well, your liking for "encountering assorted lunatics" probably goes a long way towards explaining your presence here on Dave's. It is, however, unfortunate that some of us don't speak/write such "marvellous English" (as for the belly dancing, I'll bet stillnosheep can shake it with the best of them)

John

Dear John,

Thank you for the compliment.

I unfortunately am but a (very) rank novice; hardly fit to shimmy in the same company as, for example, Guinevere, who is truly a mistress of the art; not to mention being a damn fine belly dancer!
