Have a look at moonpies article.
He is seriously insane. |
Do believe him to be insane because he expressed opinions that you do not approve of? This brings to mind the Brezhnev period in the Soviet Union when those who expressed disagreement with the officcial communist ideology were often put into psychiatric hospitals...
The use of the word 'seriously' interests me. Is it possible to be unseriously insane, or perhaps flippantly insane? Perhaps it is the seriousness that offends you? Moonpie's article is a serious attempt to discuss the issue of Islamofascism and perhaps such seriousness is unacceptable in a forum of politically correct English Language teachers... |

Dear Ithaca,
Is moonpie insane? I don't know. Was Hitler insane? Some, perhaps, many, would say he was. The reason I bring up Hitler is that, if you go to moonpie's site, take out the words "Muslim" and "Islam" and replace them with the words "Jew" and "Judaism", I'd say the resemblance to the Fuhrer's rants is striking (which is ironic, since moonpie seems to like equating Islam with Fascism). But, from the tone of your message, I strongly suspect you won't agree. Seriousness is fine (if sometimes overdone by fanatics, who take themselves and their "causes" VERY seriously), but I think race/ethnic hatred and vitriolic prejudice doesn't belong on this site or anywhere else.
Regards,
John |
