Hi guys. Are any of you worried about the future (next couple of years) of Istanbul? How do you think it will be with the new government? Do you think you will stick around? How do you think this cool city will change? |

Interesing question, but you are asking people who have very little connection or interest in the country and how it will fare in the next term of the current governments reign of office.
Perhaps you need to set the tone of how you would like this potentially interesting topic to unfold and develop. |

I mean were/are people settled here or thought about staying here long term that are reconsidering. Do you think it will become a dry state. How more conservative will it become? Will it become more difficult for foreigners?... what changes do you predict (single sex schools) etc |

I think what we are witnessing is the very thin end of a very long and large wedge, sadly as you may have noticed from the lack of response from the esteemed members of this pseudo forum, nobody gives a damn!
Cept maybe you of course!! |

Politics aside, Turkey much like Spain seems to be unsustainable as a location for long term career plans. Low wages make it impossible for experienced and qualified staff to stick around. People who have been there long term and plan to be there long term tend to have family ties to the country. If you ever plan on retiring back home forget it. |

Those kind of numbers are the norm these days, depending on your location and experience.
The thought of retiring back in the buggered up U.K does not give me a warm glow inside, rather more like a cold shudder down the spine! |

At current exchange rate, you're saying you make 5600-6750 lira per month? Tax free? |

Yes . I guess but the UK is expensive. How can one survive on a state pension from 2 countries and a small private one, pay bills, food and rent a place to live. Almost impossible |
