I am interested in applying to be an IELTS examiner part time/weekends. I'm currently working in a uni so could only do it at weekends. Quite a few of my colleagues do it, but I was wondering how difficult it is to get in. Is it competitive? I don't have that much experience with IELTS, but do have some. Thanks! |

If you don't know what you're doing, don't do it. Faking it and coaching something as important as IELTS is doing your students a disservice. |

I've looked into this, it seems you need a CELTA + a years experience.
But I've also read the British Council have switched all examiners to be full time now, so there's no longer any chance to do the lucrative weekend work. Which is kinda a shame. |

They're already recruiting for these full-time posts. Can't be bothered looking for a link to post but it shouldn't be too difficult to find for anyone who wishes to apply or just find out more.
Incidentally, it should be three years experience of teaching primarily adults, adults being over 16 years old in this case. But yes, they also require a Celta (or equivalent) plus a bachelors degree. |

Yes but the OP said he only wished to work part time/weekends.
Looks like a pretty good gig though. I've seen the adverts offering 24,000RMB a month. No housing but hey, it's still a nice chunk of change.
Need the CELTA though whih costs a fair bit. Online ones aren't accepted. |

The BC are working towards all examiners being fulltime. I doubt they'll take on any more casual examiners |
