Abaarso School of Science and Technology is looking for an English Teacher. Their ad on Daves ESL Cafe says they offer an evacuation allowance and a $250 Month stipend. I think this is the first time I have seen an ad for Somalia. Any takers??? |

a university in Hargeisa, Somaliland had some postings in the past couple years. Somaliand is a quasi independent territory/country that is relatively safer than Somalia. |

Actually teaching in Somalia should be an interesting experience as an EFL instructor...it is a new place to teach English in Africa and I believe the recruiters will have no problems finding enough teaching volunteers for their schools.. |

You could help the Somali pirates spend their ill-gotten gains by teaching them such useful sentences as "We're taking over this ship." |

No, just trolling. He's posted similarly absurd comments on other threads throughout these forums. |

Yeah, it's the troll that used to call itself Eagle Eyes. Same M/O--drifting to different forums and goading people in a way that keeps it "under the radar." Tweak and run, basically. I guess some people have way too much free time and odd ways of getting their jollies. |

Interesting!!! A quick search shows that many of his/her/its comments are nearly word-for-word identical to those of Eagle Eyes. |

It would be good volunteer experience if: 1) you survived the 70-hour workweeks, and 2) could afford not to get paid, 3) and didn't mind living in "the worst place in the world", etc. |

To be fair, there is "compensation". I pulled this from their website:
Compensation:
Round-trip Airfare
Quality Housing >> vague
Meals >> vague
Travel Medical Insurance >> vague
A $250/month stipend
The students would be very eager learners, so that's a kind of "compensation" as well. "Making a difference", etc.
They state "Abaarso is an extreme environment and only those ready to dedicate themselves to the students and the school should proceed." That about sums it up.
I'm guessing they'll get more than just a few applicants too. |

Aren't those areas rife with Caliphate satellites? 250 US compensation? |
