Multiculturalism has a lot of benefits and public holidays are definitely one of them.

Gong Xi Fa Cai to you too, and your mother. Here in China proper, fireworks and firecrackers are a way of life. I want to learn how to say in Mandarin, "Madam. you're children are too young to be handling explosives. They can be deafened or disfigured for life. You ought to be ashamed!" I don't like sudden loud noises, and neither does my dog nor her friends, but what're ya gonna do? These people invented loud noise and raucous behavior, and they use firecrackers the way we in the West use holy water or champagne. Firecrackers are a nuisance, but it took white folks to look at gunpowder and say, "Hey...! We could use this to kill people!" So I remain tolerant of multiculturalism, i.e., foreign customs. Smile
