I see no moral equivalency. I never murdered anyone, not out of rage, racism, or religious pretext. The US did it IS did it, what do people mean. France did it, Italy did it, Russia did it, England/Scotland/Northern Ireland and the South did it, India did it, Mexico did it, ... Did the people actually do it? Law condones killing someone who has done the same to another. If I were to prefer a method for me it would be the bullet to the head or the long drop hang. Never would I think chemicals introduced to my body would work better, but then again, I don't want to be an expense on others. I also never expect to need a choice. Reforming laws about who should get the penalty are great, not sure I agree it should be lost though.

In Utah, police officers---not ordinary citizens---would volunteer for the 5-person firing squad.

Additionally...

Firing squads are still in use in other countries; according to the Capital Punishment UK website, they are steadily declining. The site says there were 30 such executions worldwide in 2007 -- 15 in Afghanistan, one each in Belarus, Ethiopia, Indonesia and North Korea, three in Somalia and eight in Yemen. Some provinces in China are also thought to use the method.

Firing squad would be great. Quick. Hold someone for 40 years, letting them be raped and abused, at your expense, then let them slowly die. Or they could get solitary, another nice mental concoction. Cruel and unusual I would say. If someone really is willing to kill another or hurt someone so bad, then let them die. Qualms with the legal system are in no way a determination of just in my view.
