Yes, there are lots of jobs around, but good jobs that pay well are hard to come by. OK, over the summer period you have fairly decent hourly rates at the universities, but outside of that there isn't an awful lot that pays well. Many ESL teachers fear the arrival of September because that signals a time when the work dries up and people have to go back to filling shelves at Tesco's or board a plane to sunnier climes in search of work. You are making £1000 a month. Where you are living that might be a lot but in London, where the average rent now is £1500, you wouldn't even be able to put a roof over your head.
