Can someone tell me what application forms mean by "admin experience" ? There is a column for teaching experience and then another for admin experience.
Thanks |

Have you ever worked in administration? Have you ever been a director/asst director? Have you ever been a department manager? Or more likely, have you ever been a course coordinator for a batch of fellow teachers? Test coordinator?
If you have to ask, the answer is likely no...

No, if I have to ask it's because I've never seen that on a teaching application in the U.K. ! |

I do believe that "Administration" is an international English term for management...

Yes, I suppose that could be some native speaker newbies who don't know what 'administration' is... but I doubt that there are many.

Dear VS,
No, nwtefl's right - it's not universally known. For example, an Alpha Centaurian wouldn'r have a clue.

Careful, John; you're beginning to sound like Hod! |

Here in the UK, 'admin experience' is a very common expression.
Of course, one could also do a simple Google search where there about 186,000,000 entries giving examples and how to write a CV listing such experience..... |

Dear grahamb,
"Careful, John; you're beginning to sound like Hod! "
You're just picking on me because I'm a Yank.

Not to be confused with "administrative assistant" experience --- I doubt they're seeking teachers who can type, file, and pick up the boss's dry cleaning. |

Or one could write a helpful reply instead of being a smart arse. |

I gave my helpful reply - type 'admin experience' into Google and you will get a plethora of useful advice. |

Ah well - better, perhaps, to be a smart arse than a - - - - arse.
