What a palava this all sounds-none of the Nativ speakers at our MOM college, [admittedly only a few of us] have ever had to do this....scanned copies of originals has been enough. |

Has anyone done all of this and successfully got the Omani work permit? Last time I was in Oman (2011) none of this notarization stuff was necessary.
Also is there a ban on returning to Oman, been applying for jobs, but getting no emails back, or is there too many applicants nowadays? |

Notarization is a new thing, you'lo be the lab rat running through the maze...let us know how it went
Work ban is for two years.
It's the holidays, nobody is in the office.
The new academic year starts in September but it will be the Eid Al Fikr holidays, so nobody is in the office.
Expect a reply around October.
From what I,gather, plenty of people apply but can't hold out indefinitely as they run out of money.,Hence, they take up jobs elsewhere.
Given that there is an (unofficial) freeze on teachers' visas, there ain't much point anyways. |

It may be new with these contractors, but it has been required at SQU since the 80s... and I had to provide it again in '99 at a private college in Muscat.
This is nothing new and since both of the previous two employers said that it was required by the Ministry, it is more odd that they got away without for all this time.

Back in the olden golden days, a scanned image was sufficient. They didn't even want to see the original.
I guess now that penny pinching is the order of the day, the Omanis remembered that this brings in a few Rials from the newbie expats and justifies the existence of some seat farting dish dasha wearer. |
