|
|
Hi,
I sent my cv in response to a Dave's advert by TATI, a couple of weeks ago and haven't heard back. I know I have the qualifications they are looking for -MA TESOL and 2 years in a Saudi Uni (2009-11).
Last week, I sent an email requesting they confirm they received my application . . . but still no response. I know that all unis are closed but wonder if such a lack of response is typical.
Thanks for any information/comments anyone might have about this. |

Certainly not unusual as most of the time was Ramadhan and Eid. According to an online site with Oman holidays, they won't really be back to work until the 27th.

Me thinks this is due to the overwhelming amount of job applications they have received.....and the few positions they have available. |

Between sending an application and receiving a response there is no connection at all, as there is a factor in between the two called ''competition'', extremely tough in Oman. So you must be lucky to get a reply, very lucky.
They never acknowledge receiving your application, but only reply to candidates they are interested in.
In terms of numbers, think of hundreds, perhaps thousands is closer to fact, of applications per each add.
You might try and telephone TATI and enquire, when the Eid break has been over, i.e. next week. I have no idea if they handle telephone enquiries, as I have never worked for them. From hearsay that has reached my ears, TATI has a messy and pretty erratic agency reputation.

Ditto what Balqis stated, particularly regarding the competition for positions with TATI as they're often regarded the best of the of the recruiting companies for MoM colleges.
If you're really set on coming to Oman, you could try your luck with the other recruiters. CECN, Globnet, Bahwan, and Al Nawa are the other prominent ones. Keep in mind many don't consider these as good as TATI, especially when it comes to gratuity and/or annual flight home.
Good luck. |

TATI are actually pretty efficient, but you have to understand how the system works. First of all, there's no way they can respond to all applicants, even to acknowledge receipt of the applications - there are simply too many, as other4s have said.
They do a basic screening and forward info to the college(s) you expressed interest in. If the college is interested, they'll ask TATI to set up an interview. They can't do anything or tell you anything until that happens.
Best of luck. |

I understand there is an average of 350 qualified applicants for every EFL position opening in Oh Man...based on my own survey of contacting HR dept. managers. These days there are just way to many people looking for work. |

I received a pre-interview response from TATI a few months ago explaining details of the job and requesting a list of documents...which I then submitted.
They had some issues with my reference letters because the dates of my previous employment were included within general reference letters written by two previous employers. They wanted me to get separate letters that included the dates and job titles only... I was not able (or bothered) to do that.
Nothing thereafter, until a month ago when I received the exact response I had received initially, requesting the same documents...as if they had seen my application for the first time... |

The disorganization and slowness to process anything in Oman means that everything seems to be done last minute-don't be surprised if, after a successful interview you are waiting for weeks on visa issuance + flights being arranged-only to receive a phone call from the HOD at the college asking why you are late for class..... |
