Hi all (again),
Possibly stupid question here. I understand the rules for obtaining a work permit in Mexico have changed fairly recently, and that you now have to:
1. Have a job offer
2. Leave Mexico (either to interview at a consulate for the permit OR, to pick up the completed permit if your workplace did the paperwork for you)
Assuming that's correct (is it?), what is the best case scenario in terms of the support a new teacher can obtain from a school? They do all the paperwork and arrange the interview? More? Less?
I'm a US citizen, if it makes a difference.
Just wondering how deep a shade of pink my rose-colored glasses should be.
Thanks! |

Best case scenario is that a school sponsors you and handles the paperwork for you. More reasonable to expect a school to make the offer of employment and you pay for and handle the visa yourself, including the trip back out of the country to a Mexican consulate.
Of course, you'll have a hard time finding a full time position right now as the school year started - assuming we're talking about primary/secondary schools.
If we're talking about language institutes, not many offer sponsorship for a visa. Those that do will follow the procedure I outlined above. |
