BTW, there is no such thing as a young looking 50yo. Hate to burst your bubble. |
I hate to burst your bubble, but there is if you're a 90 year old. |

Anyone know anything about this company? I recalled from another forum awhile ago (and cant find the thread) that VIPKID doesnt pay that high hourly rate unless you qualify for the bonus. In other words, you have to be part teacher and part rock star to qualify.
On the flip side with VIP KIDS, the hourly rate is one of the highest industry (at least in general in comparison with other online teaching jobs) and is pretty easy. Though that's the part that I feel a bit uneasy since I want my students to learn and now just go through slide after slide or have them watch a video while I act like Pee-Wee Herman on crack.
How are they on scheduling and if you have to postpone a class (with a weeks notification of course ahead of time)? |

According to www.scamaudit.com, the site gets 90 visitors per day...so maybe they only have 10-20 students. Also, the pay is almost too good to be true, compared with what some of the others are paying. OKPANDA is paying 1.50 USD for a 25 minute lesson. |
Ah the world of ESL just keeps getting better. The scammers are now using online lessons. If nothing else who is going to look at a resume where your experience is online teaching. |

Looks like a scam. An anonymous website promising to sue VIPKID, based in Beijing, alleging violations of (Hong Kong?) employment laws.

I don't work for them, but I know 3 or 4 people who do and they all like them. They average $18US per hour. |

I did some further research, and it is fishy. There are no indications that VIP moved to HK. Don't know how they would benefit....but it was believable that a number of their "contractors" believe they have gotten a raw deal. Most countries, do indeed, have laws against calling employees contractors to avoid taxes. Of course, TEFL is a completely honest business, full of people working in communal fashion for the betterment of society. Proceed with caution. |
