Hey,
Does anyone know if there's a way to get teaching work in Athens, without going through the 2 agencies?
I worked in Greece before through an agency & they weren't great & I applied through the other agency only to have my application ignored!!!
I'd love to return to Greece to teach. Had the agency been decent I would've took another post out there, that's why I applied va the other agency, as I said before my application was flat out ignored, probably because I had previously worked with the agency I worked with instead if them, so I'm wondering if there is another route to the jobs?
I am aware that the situation isn't great & that a lot of schools are opting to have younger Greeks with a good level of English teaching at their schools instead of native speakers, however not all of them are doing this. I know Athens has more schools, but I'm not sure how to go about getting work out with going the agencies. Anyone know? TIA |

Awesome Osen77. Thanks for that. I'll have a look right now Is there a list of schools somewhere? I've had a look online, but nothing seems to be coming up. Can you recommend any Greek sites where the jobs are advertised? I've had a look in classified on Greek newspapers, but there's no jobs advertised. TIA |

Hi there,
I'm not sure about Greek newspapers, but there is an online site just for ads (xe.gr), and there you can search for jobs in categories. Below you can see all jobs in the category 'English Teachers'. There are only a couple in English (including the one I sent you before), some have a couple of words in English (e.g. native speakers!). You can pm me if you need any help with translation, I'd be glad to help.

As far as a list of schools goes, there are many as far as I could see. This one is from the yellow pages.

You just need to google κεντρα ξενων γλωσσων or φροντιστηρια ξενων γλωσσων.
Finally, I don't know if you're also interested in Cyprus, here is a site I use, in the relevant category

Good luck with it! |
