This left me a bit gobsmacked today.
I'm in the States at a university international student program in California where nearly 60% of our academic enrollments come from KSA. Most of them (and I'll admit I don't discuss the Gulf or Oman with my students) know so little about Oman that they forget the country is their next door neighbor. One girl told me a while back that she'd never even heard of Muscat. A Saudi said this!!
Anyway-- irrelevant to my subject line. A male student from Saudi today said this in regards to the Paris attacks: "If the world follows Oman, this will all stop. They never be involved in the fighting of others. They only get involved to help others. Teacher- the world should follow Oman." (direct quote including Arablish)
Target lang. this week is modal auxiliaries of advice and necessity:) Just thought I'd share…
God bless Oman. |
