All the threads on these Mexican Unis are woefully outdates (somewhere around 2003). Can anyone tell me what are reasonable salaries for those places (I have TEFL, MA and over 30 years of experience)? Also can those salaries support a couple, and what should I expect in terms of living conditions in rented apartments? I don't want luxury, don't eat hamburgers or drink beer every night, have survived 3 years in China.
Thanks for any advice. |

The pay rate will be around 15,000
rents will very from location to location, but you could count on it being under 3000 for a place suitable for a couple. The biggest issue on supporting a couple will be how often do you want to fly home and where is home?
By that I mean day to day expensives, even including beers and hamburgers, no problem but if you are flying home to somewhere like Austrailia you will need to scrimp and save all year to afford two tickets. If you are from Houston than that's not such a big deal but it will still take your entire Christmas bonus in one fail swoop. |

Thanks for the reply. WE don't need to fly home at all. We can just hang around or travel. Sounds like we could swing it,since hubby has a decent pension from home. Kids are 26 and 29 so don't care if we come home or not... |
