Hi everybody,
I am looking for an immediate start and/or January 2016 ELT position in the Middle East and wondering if you could recommend me a trusted agency or know about vacancies. All comments are appreciated!
About me: ELT educator with 7+ yrs of experience in Europe and in the Middle East (Oman). Holder of PhD degree in Language teaching and an MA in TESOL. |

Native speaker of English? That will matter.
Quick start and trusted agency are both probably aiming too high for the ME. |

Thanks spiral78 for your quick response. Fortunately/Unfortunately I am not a native speaker. European citizenship, though, if it matters.... |

Your timing is off. Plus, given how long visa processes are in the Gulf, there's no way you'd start immediately or within two months. Anyway, forget about "trusted" agents and take a look at higheredjobs.com, insidehighered.com, and TESOL.org. Otherwise, plan to attend TESOL Arabia's job fair in March for positions slated for the 2016-2017 academic year. |

Dear nomadsoul,
I know I don't have the best timing and perfectly aware that it doesn't work out as soon as one would expect.
Still, thanks a lot for the links you recommended! Will continue hunting
Cheers! |

You will encounter prejudice. There are benighted folk out there who think that having mother tongue English is a qualification in itself ! |

Dear scot47,
Thanks for reminding me. I am facing that problem all the time. But cannot agree with them, regardless how hard I try...
Long live NNS of English! |

From experience, the entire recruitment process takes at least a couple of months, so an immediate start position is highly unlikely. Best wishes in your job search.

Thanks a lot, MENA_chica! Will check out! Yes, I know the recruitment takes time, but at least the offer will already be there.... Anyhow, will see... |

Definitely focus on direct-hire opportunities. Even then, research potential employers before applying to make sure you'll be a good fit. |
