So it seems that Turkey has blocked Craigslist? Haven't seen that happen before. Anybody know what's up with that?

I couldn't access Craig's List all of a sudden using the internet at my old apartment. The service provider my roommate got had it blocked. I don't know which provider. I'll try it at my new place and check, but I can get on the site at work, and I work at a public institution. Craigslist has a lot of sexual stuff and propositioning. Perhaps, that's considered a problem. I'm not sure what's behind some providers blocking it.

I couldn't access it at home at my last apartment. Nor can I access at my new place. I can at work for some reason; I work at a public university. Go figure.

If you really want to use it or any other blocked website try using proxies.

Is there a particular VNP that you recommend? The one I'm using doesn't seem to be directing to Craig's List in Turkey. I keep getting San Francisco.

It doesn't matter which proxy you use; there are many websites you can access instead of installing anything on your computer. Just search for "proxy" online, and you'll find plenty of them then type the following as the URL to access Istanbul's CraigsList:
http://istanbul.craigslist.com.tr/?lang=en&cc=us

Delete everything after ".tr" if you want the Turkish version.

The reason you're being taken to another one, San Francisco in this case, is because CraigsList is detecting your location via the proxy and determining that as your closest location in terms of your perceived IP. However, you can manually change this by specifically choosing another location, which can be done by copying and pasting the URL I posted above.

Let me know if that works for you.

Thanks for explain all that to me. Posting the URL worked. I couldn't manually change it for some reason, but posting the URL did the trick for some reason. I'm not surprised the government banned "Craig's List".
