One should be aware that the Chinese government is also in on the racket.
They are a silent partner, but help themselves to about 10-20% of the profits. |

Over and above the taxes they pay, the government dips its filthy paws into the massive pile of lucre the BC is making.
It's just too much money for the greedy buggers to ignore. |

For years people have complained about the BC being a leech on tax payer's money. Since any profits they do make are used to fund departments that used to be grant funded but now aren't, I'm happy they're making massive piles of lucre. I suppose if you're not British and resent other countries' non profit making organisations doing well, it's probably not a good idea to work for them. |

I'm a little taken aback by the sense of entitlement of some posters.
In your home country would you expect your employer to cover your lifestyle whatever you decided it to be and in addition reserve the right to take issue with where the profits go? |

Told to me by a supervisor one weekend. She also noted that the Chinese staff were jumping ship en masse, due to the lack of credibility of the senior foreign staff (believe me - these are the "self-entitled" ones).
The BC in China had lost all credibility with its previous examiners, except for a few desperate souls, who didn't have the skill set to find other work.
I, on the other hand, do have a strong skill set - and made the best move of my career, moving up to Shanghai and joining a Singaporean-Chinese education company.
I feel for anyone examining for the BC. |

Yes, me too. Working-zero hour contracts for rates of pay that are low in the grand scheme of things and marking generic scripts that will get them into generic universities is indeed a job made in hell. |

that sounds like information that would come from a foreign staff member. |
